Target’s Subconscious Advertising

I’m not talking about subliminal messaging, I’m talking about Target’s recent Hello Goodbuy advertising campaign. Is it just me or does the music also serve as some type of subconscious, unintentional form of advertising for the alternative band Hellogoodbye?

I think so. While this may not seem like a big deal, I think advertisers need to be more careful with the way they produce their work. Letting small things like this go unnoticed can direct a viewers attention away from the products they’re trying to sell, and in this case, towards the latest music from Hellogoodbye. Just a thought.

  1. Aha! I’m not the only one that feels the same way. Even my little sister of 12 year’s old enjoys the commercial because of the words “hello good buy” sounding of course, like Hellogoodbye.

The only thing that sticks out from the commercial aside from that, is how long it was when I first saw it. Otherwise I have no idea what was even in the advert.

  2. I would think of the Beatles first, actually. Which is the actual song, of course! I like the commercial a lot :D

“I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello…hello, goodbye!”

  3. “Hello Goodbye” automatically equates to JPop star Yuki to me. Yet another sign that I should probably more music in a language I can actually understand.

  4. Ugh, I meant “should probably listen.” Man, I’m in bad shape right now :(

  5. who sings that song!?!?
    hmm do u know?!?!

  6. You guys are idiots. lol. It’s a Beattles song… the cover was by Sophia Shorai
